HAUTE, IN (2-21-2004) - The Indiana
State University men’s basketball team dropped a 64-51 decision to the
University at Buffalo on Saturday (Feb. 21) as part of Bracket Buster II at
Hulman Center. The Sycamores fell early and trailed 32-11 at halftime, as they
connected on just 5-of-22 (.227) field goal attempts in the opening stanza. ISU
went the final 7:14 of the first half without a point.
Buffalo (12-11, 7-7 MAC) was led by Mario Jordan, who recorded a game-high 19 points. Yassin Idbihi tallied ten points and eight rebounds for UB. The Bulls finished the game 23-of-55 (.418) from the floor and outscored the Sycamores 34-26 in the paint. Buffalo also forced the Sycamores into 20 turnovers, which the Bulls converted into 14 points.
Ted Morris (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade HS) scored a team high 13 points for ISU (8-16, 4-11 MVC), while David Moss (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood HS) posted twelve points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Sycamores struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 2-of-19 (.105) from three-point range.
Indiana State returns to Missouri Valley Conference play on Wednesday (Feb. 25), when the Sycamores host Bradley. Tip-off is set for 6:05 p.m. CST at Hulman Center.
