CROWN POINT (04-17-2018) Surrounded by cold air, Crown Point Bulldogs starting pitcher Ryan Fender proved hot. The senior right-hander pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 10 in a 1-0 win over the Michigan City Wolves.

In the top half of the fourth, Michigan City had runners at second and third with one out, before Fender could strike out the next two hitters to get out of the jam.

In the bottom half of the same inning, the Bulldogs scored the gameís lone run as senior Ben Fridrichís sacrifice fly to left drove in junior Josh Lindeman from third.

Lindeman had started the inning with a single, stole second and advanced to third on junior Alex Richís double.

Michigan City did pose a threat in the top of the fifth, as sophomore Gabe Galvan doubled to left and advanced to third on senior River Richardsonís single. However, Richardson got picked off at first to end the threat and the inning.

Fender would shut down the next six Wolves to preserve the victory. With the win, Crown Point improved to a 6-3 overall record and 2-2 in the Dunelnd Athletic Conference.

Our next Internet radio baseball broadcast on USA-365.com will be Wednesday, April 25 when the Bulldogs host the perennial baseball power, the LaPorte Slicers. The pregame show is at 4:15 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CDT.
