Bolda shuts out Brickies in 4-0 Crown Point baseball win

A nice-sized crowd of about 350 baseball fans came out Friday, (05-11-2018) for a rare evening ball game as the Crown Point Bulldogs and Hobart Brickies had a pitcher's dual in what ended up with a CP win 4-0. (Photos by Dave Woodworth)

Hobart's starting pitcher Benny Guevara proved to be pretty effective on the mound for the Brickies, holding the Bulldogs to just 5 hits on the night over 5-innings.

Play is stopped briefly in the evening game under the lights for a short infield conference on the mound during a key moment of the game with a CP runner in scoring position. Two runs in the bottom of the 4th proved to be the clinching runs for the Bulldogs' 4-0 win nonconference win over Hobart, 05-11-2018.

CROWN POINT (05-11-2018 ) Over the last week, the Crown Point Bulldogs have gotten familiar with the Northwest Crossroads Conference.

After defeats of Munster and Andrean, they added the Hobart Brickies to that list with a 4-0 win.

Played at night, senior Ryan Bolda shined brightly under the lights. The right-hander went the distance, retiring the first 10 Hobart hitters he faced.

The Bulldogs got run support in the top of the first inning when junior Marek Bauner hit into an error on Brickies’ senior second baseman Brock Cooper, scoring junior Alex Rich.

Bauner would pick-up a two-run RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

Senior Krischtin Beebe step-up with a pitch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, scoring senior Jake DeFries from third.

This marked the sixth shutout win for the Bulldogs in 2018.

Both Crown Point and Hobart will meet in the opening round of the Class 4A, Sectional 2 tournament at Chesterton High School on May 23.

Our next Internet radio baseball broadcast on USA-365.com will be Saturday, May 19 when the Bulldogs host a doubleheader.
