CROWN POINT (05-09-2018 ) After giving-up a run in the top of the first inning, the Crown Point Bulldogs responded, in a huge way.

They sent 11 to the plate in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on their way to a 7-3 win over the Merrillville Pirates.

Victory came early to the Bulldogs because of rain in the top of the sixth. With the Pirates hitting, a torrential downpour forced the calling of the game, becoming official due to play beyond the fifth inning.

After scoring twice in the bottom of the second, the Bulldogs gave-up two runs to the Pirates in the top of the fourth.

In four of the five innings the Bulldogs came-up, they got the lead-off hitter on base and everyone in the line-up reached safely at least once.

This marked the second time the Bulldogs defeated the Pirates in two days, both in shortened contests.

Crown Point won 10-0 at Merrillville, called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Our next Internet radio baseball broadcast on USA-365.com will be Friday, May 11 when the Bulldogs host the Hobart Brickies. The pregame show starts at 6:45 p.m. CDT with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CDT.
