MERRILLVILLE (5-14-2019) For the second straight day, the Mercy Rule became a factor for the Crown Point Bulldogs to pick-up a win.

After defeating the Highland Trojans at home the previous day in five innings, it took the same number of innings for the Bulldogs to knock off the Merrillville Pirates.

They did just that with an 11-0 victory.

Over the first two innings, the Bulldogs sent 21 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs.

Everyone in the Crown Point lineup, reached base safely at least once, while seven of nine scored at least one run.

With three hits, junior catcher Zoie Rettig led the Bulldogs in RBIís. She drove in two runs in the top of the first with a double to right and then singled to center an inning later to bring in another run.

Freshman Brinkley Kita, hitting in place of sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Madi Young, got on base four times and scored two runs. She had a double and two singles for the Bulldogs.

Young earned the win for Crown Point, her second in back-to-back days. She defeated Highland after going three innings in a relief appearance.
