CROWN POINT (4-05-2016) Through a cool wind, it became a breeze for Alexis Holloway. The junior starting pitcher got the ball for the Crown Point Bulldogs in their softball home opener. In the end, a complete game with 10 strikeouts became a big part in the Bulldogs second win of the season, a 5-0 result over the Chesterton Trojans.

With the Bulldogs improving to 2-0, Holloway retired the first 12 batters she faced, including a stretch of seven consecutive strikeouts.

The Bulldogs tallied two runs in the first inning and then one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Senior Miranda Elish, playing left field and batting in the leadoff spot, went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while junior shortstop MacKenzie Dunlap had two hits in her last two at-bats with a run scored in the fifth and an RBI in the sixth.

Both Bulldog wins to this point have come against DAC opponents and in shutouts. They defeated the Portage Indians on March 30th, 3-0, on the road.
