CROWN POINT, IN (May 29, 2011) Crown Point High School senior Sean Crary has committed to play basketball next season at St. Xavier University.

Crary, a 6’1” guard, made his decision when visiting the school last month. Crary averaged 11.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game for the 18-4 Bulldogs last season. His shooting improved dramatically from his junior season to his senior season as he shot 47 percent from the field and led the team from three-point range, shooting 37.3 percent.

Two highlights from this past season were when Crary notched a career-high of 23 points in a February 17 victory at Portage and came back two nights

later and scored 22 points and garnered 6 steals in a win at home against Lowell. Crary chose SXU over the likes of Maryville, Taylor, and Lewis. The Cougars are

coached by Tom O’Malley, who has been the head coach there for 14 years.

Saint Xavier, located in Chicago, is an NAIA school and competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Crary will be joining Valparaiso High School graduate Brad Karp, who was named first team all-conference and the conference’s Freshman of the Year this past season. While at Saint Xavier, Crary plans on majoring in elementary education.
