Sycamores fall on the road 65-58
MURFREESBORO,
TN (11-30-2006) - A strong second
half by Middle Tennessee State snapped Indiana State’s three-game winning
streak with a 65-58 decision in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Thursday night.
The Blue Raiders started the second half with a 13-5 run as Tim Blue had eight points during the run while Kevin Kanaskie’s three gave the Blue Raiders a 35-28 lead with just over 14 minutes left to play. The lead went to ten before Indiana State made a small run. Russell Trudeau (Lafayette, Ind.) nailed a three, then a steal by Gabe Moore (Little Rock, Ark.) and a lay-up by Marico Stinson (Memphis, Tenn.) got the lead to five 39-34 with 11:12 left. But that was as close as Indiana State would get.
Moore led the Sycamores (4-2) with 16 points while Stinson chipped in with 12. Jay Tunnell (Topeka, Kan.) had a career high 11 rebounds as ISU was out rebounded for the first time in there last three games, 34-30. Four Blue Raiders (3-4) found the double-figure column led by Kanaskie 17, 15 in the second half. Blue had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Desmond Yates had 11 and Kyle Young had 10, all in the first half.
Notes: Jay Tunnell had a career high 11 rebounds in the loss. His previous career high was 8 against Oakland City this season. Indiana State had just six assists in the loss, the lowest total they have had since February 18, 2006 in a win at Western Michigan.
