TERRE
HAUTE, IN (3-28-2006) – Indiana
State head coach Lou West has picked up a pair of football commitments this week
from Chicago-area offensive linemen. Inking their name to national letters of
intent are Pat Burke and Tyler Lamz.
Burke, a 6-3, 305, lineman hails from Niles, Ill., where he played at Maine South High School for Dave Inserra. At South, he lettered in football as well as baseball, basketball and wrestling. He was an honorable mention all-state selection by both the Chicago Tribune and the Illinois High School Coaches Association. Burke was voted as the Central Suburban Conference’s Best Lineman in 2005 and was the runner-up for the award in 2004. An all-conference selection as a senior and junior, his team advanced to the Illinois Class 8A State Championship Game for three consecutive seasons.
Lamz, a 6-5, 285, lineman comes to ISU from McHenry, Ill., where he played for McHenry West Campus and head coach Chad Hetlet. He lettered in football and track, and was named all-conference in 2004. He was an all-state honorable mention selection as a senior and took all-conference as well as all-area honors in 2005. In track, he holds the McHenry HS record in the shot-put, finishing third in his sectional as a senior.
These two linemen compliment an Indiana State recruiting class which currently stands at 21. The Sycamores inked four mid-year transfers that have already enrolled at ISU, one junior college transfer and 14 other high school seniors.
