TERRE
HAUTE, IN (12-14-2005) – Indiana
State senior tight end Jamie Petrowski (Terre Haute, Ind./North) has been named
a Third Team All-American by The Sports Network. He is one of six Gateway
Football Conference athletes to earn the distinction. Petrowski is the
first Sycamore since 1999 to be honored nationally by TSN, when defensive
lineman Shannon Jackson was a third-team selection. A first team
all-conference as well as academic all-conference selection, he was second on
the team with 57 pass receptions for 513 yards and a pair of
touchdowns.
His 57 pass receptions eclipsed the previous school record for catches in a season, which was also broken this year by wide receiver Sam Logan. He caught a season-long 33-yard pass from Phillip Johnson and was on the receiving end of a pair of fake punt passes against Western Kentucky. Petrowski caught a season-best 10 passes for 133 yards versus the Hilltoppers and hauled in at least two passes in each game during the season.
Other honorees from the Gateway included Illinois State's Laurent Robinson, Brent Hawkins and Stafford Davis, who were named to the first team, as well as the Redbirds' Cameron Siskowic and Youngstown State's Codera Jackson on the second team.
