Pregame warm-ups with the Lowell Red Devils (white uniforms) and Hobart Brickies (purple uniforms) at Brickie Bowl prior to the Class 4A, Sectional 9 Championship game, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith)

Hobart's QB Josh Miracle #18 was 7 of 12 passing for 137 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted 3 times in the Brickies' 31-28 loss to Lowell, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith)

Lowell put their running game plan to work at Hobart, with QB Josh Kuiper #14 handing off 5 times to Steffan Peck #13 for 20 yards and a TD, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith)

Running back Max Znika #20 did the "heavy lifting" for Lowell, carrying the football 32 times for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the Red Devils' 31-28 victory over the top-10 ranked Brickies, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith) Even though the temperature was in the low 30s, senior lineman Mike Staniewicz #76 could be seen taking advantage of a break in the action to remove his headgear for a moment to help cool down from the heat of battle in the trenches with the Brickies, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith)

Hobart halfback Andrew Jackson #6 proved to be hard to hard to bring down, as he rushed 39 times for 208 yards against Lowell, including three second half touchdowns that gave the Brickies a 21-20 lead and brought them back to a 28-28 tie late in the game. (All photos by Mark Smith)

But the Lowell defense was able to stop Jackson #6 from time to time, even if it took half the team to take him down.  Here at least five Lowell defenders are in on the play, including Chris Jacobson #18, Luke Palmer #10, Geno Wentworth #50 and Mike Staniewicz #76. (All photos by Mark Smith)

The Red Devils trailed the Brickies 21-20 at the start of the 4th quarter, 11-03-06.  But Lowell put together a 12-play, 7-yard drive for a touchdown and momentary 26-20 lead. (All photos by Mark Smith)

Lowell went for a two point conversion, with Josh Kuiper hitting TJ Lukasic #7 with a scoring pass to make it 28-21 with 8:35 left in the game.  Lukasic (5-7, 165) is congratulated by Staniewicz #76 (6-7, 264).

While it was only 31-degrees, the Lowell fans kept warm in the Visitor's section by cheering on their Red Devils to a 31-28 Sectional Championship win over Hobart, 11-03-06. (All photos by Mark Smith)

It was quite a night for junior defensive back TJ Lukasik #7, seen being interviewed by members of the media after the game.  Lukasik returned a Josh Miracle pass interception back 70-yards for a 3rd quarter touchdown and a second interception in the 4th to set up David Lang's game-winning field goal.
