ISU Sycamores fall at Creighton, 74-55 

OMAHA, NE (2-26-2005) Three Bluejays scored in double figures as Creighton handed Indiana State a 74-55 defeat on Saturday (Feb. 26) at the Qwest Center. Nate Funk paced the Bluejays with 18 points, while Johnnie Mathies and Tyler McKinney added 18, and 12, respectively. Creighton finished 28-of-51 (.549) from the floor, while Indiana State was limited to 38 percent (21-of-56) shooting from the field.

The Bluejays jumped out to a 19-8 lead midway through the first half and never looked back, as they took a 37-21 advantage into halftime. Indiana State scored the first six points of the second half to cut the Creighton lead to ten (37-27), but that was as close as the Sycamores would get the rest of the way.

David Moss led the Sycamores with 18 points and seven rebounds. He also finished with a team-high three assists. Eric Gray came off the bench and scored 11 for the Trees. Creighton enjoyed a 31-29 advantage in rebounding, but the Sycamores were able to corral 12 offensive boards.

Indiana State falls to 10-18 (5-12 MVC) on the season while Creighton moves to 19-10 (10-7 MVC). The Sycamores close out the regular season on Monday (Feb. 28) when they host Southern Illinois. Tip-off between the Sycamores and Salukis is set for 6:07 p.m. CST at Hulman Center. The game will be televised regionally by Fox SportsNet.
