TERRE
HAUTE, IN (1-29-2006) – Indiana
State couldn’t keep up with a hot shooting Missouri State squad and fell at
home 80-58 on Sunday afternoon. The Bears shot 59 percent during the game while
the Sycamores shot 34 percent.
Missouri State went into the half leading 31-20 after putting up a lead of as many as 15 points in the first 20 minutes. Indiana State struggled with turnovers early in the half with eight going into the break and MSU capitalized with 11 points in transition.
The Sycamores came out of the break and trimmed the Bears’ lead to nine two minutes into the half. It would be the closest the home team would come during the final half as the mini-runs the team would put together would be matched by Missouri State.
ISU was led by Eric Gray with 12 points and benefited from the return of David Moss with 11 points in his first action in eight games. Tyson Schnitker rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Sycamores with 11. The Bears were led by Blake Ahearn with 13 points en route to him reaching the 1,000 point plateau.
The Sycamores dropped their eleventh-straight loss running their record to 8-11 and 1-10 in conference. With the win, the Bears improve to 13-6 and 6-5 in conference.
The Sycamores will be back on the road this week as they travel to Carbondale, Illinois to face Southern Illinois. The Salukis got the better of ISU in the first meeting of the season 55-49 in the Hulman Center on January 5.
