ISU Sycamores fall to Wichita State at home, 77-58

TERRE HAUTE, IN (2-11-2006) Indiana State could not overcome a hot shooting performance by Wichita State as they dropped a 77-58 decision on Saturday at Hulman Center. The Shockers earned their 20th win of the season (20-6) and improved to 11-4 in The Valley, while ISU drops to 10-14 and 3-12 in league action.

After taking a 7-6 lead with 15:58 left in the first half, the Shockers never trailed the rest of the day. The Sycamores stayed close in the first half until they finished the stanza with a 8-2 run to go into the locker room up 36-26.

WSU began the second half with another spurt as the Shockers scored on their first six possessions to push the lead to 50-31 and they held off the Sycamores down the stretch to earn the win.

Indiana State was led by David Moss and Jay Tunnel, who poured in 12 points each. Adam Arnold added six points, six steals and five rebounds to lead the defensive effort.

WSU junior Kyle Wilson made his first eight shots of the game leading to a game-high 18 points, and three other Shockers reached double-digits in the balanced attack. The Shockers finished the night shooting 53 percent from the field, while ISU finished the game shooting 42 percent from the floor.
