LOUIS,
MO (3-02-2006) – After
not scoring a field goal for nearly nine minutes to begin the game, the Indiana
State Sycamores (13-15) found their offense and rallied to score 62 points in
the second half to defeat Drake (12-19) 72-63 in game one of the 2006 State Farm
Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball tournament at the Savvis Center.
Davis Moss led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added three
steals. Trent Wurtz
and Gabriel Moore
also scored in double figures for INS, tallying 14 and 13 points respectively.
The Sycamores shot 77 percent in the second stanza.
Al Stewart was the
only Bulldog to hit double figures in scoring, registering a double-double with
10 points and 10 assists.
With the win Indiana State advances to Friday’s quarterfinals and will meet
the No. 1 seed Wichita State Shockers (23-7) at 12:00 Noon, CST.
