ISU Sycamores win back-and-forth game over Bradley, 75-63

TERRE HAUTE, IN (2-8-2006) Indiana State pulled out a dramatic 75-63 win over Bradley at the Hulman Center on Wednesday night (Feb. 8).  The win moves the Sycamores to 10-12 (3-11 MVC) on the season while the Braves drop to 13-9 (7-7 MVC).

“We needed this win tonight,” said head coach Royce Waltman. “Eventually you can only say things so long, but this really gave us a good win near the end of the season as we get ready for the conference tournament.”

ISU came out of the gates quickly, building a 24-10 advantage at the 7:44 mark of the first half.  The lead wouldn’t hold as Bradley went on a 19-5 run at the end of the half and took a 31-29 advantage at the break.

Indiana State began the second half strong using a 12-5 run over the first five minutes.  The Sycamores would build the lead to as much as eight (45-37) with 13:22 left to play.

The Braves would again make another offensive surge and tie the game (52-52) with seven minutes left in the game.  The teams traded baskets before the Sycamores used a 15-4 run down the stretch to secure the win.

“We made stops to win the game,” Waltman said.  “Near the end of the game, we were able to get three stops in a short amount of time.”

Senior David Moss led all scorers with 22 points and added nine rebounds, six assists and two steals in the win.  Gabe Moore and Jay Tunnell also poured in double-figures with 17 and 11, respectively.  Freshman Adam Arnold logged a career-high 35 minutes and tallied a game-high 10 rebounds.

Sommerville led the Braves with 14 points, while Patrick O’Bryant added 11 points and seven boards.
