Indiana State falls to Evansville 77-75 on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, IN (2-25-2006) Evansville played the spoiler on senior day in Terre Haute and held on for a 77-75 win over Indiana State on Saturday. David Moss, finishing his career at Indiana State, led all scorers with 22 and added five assists, three rebounds and two steals as his curtain call.

The Sycamores trailed in the first half after getting off to a slow start. The Aces built a quick nine-point advantage, 12-3, within the first four minutes of the game. The visitors continued to lead and built as much as a 12-point spread with 6:32 remaining in the first half.

The Sycamores would finally counter and put together a 15-0 run over the next six minutes and take their first lead of the game on a Tyson Schnitker three-pointer with 1:54 on the clock. The teams went back and forth over the next two minutes and the game would be tied at the break 35-35.

Schnitker would draw first blood in the second half with a three-pointer after 18 ticks off the clock. Following the three, the teams would battle back and forth over the next 16 minutes of the half until Evansville grabbed a 66-64 lead with 4:11 on the clock.

The Aces were able to hold the lead down the stretch hitting 13 of 16 free-throws over the final 2:30 to seal the 77-75 win. Evansville was led by Bradley Strickland with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.

With the regular season concluded, the Sycamores will travel to St. Louis and participate in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with an automatic birth to the NCAA Tournament on the line. First round action will begin March 2.
