Adler, Moss power ISU Sycamores past Eastern Illinois, 76-57

TERRE HAUTE, IN (12-4-2004)The Indiana State men’s basketball team received its best offensive output of the season en route to a 76-57 victory over Eastern Illinois Saturday (Dec. 4) night at Hulman Center. The win pushes the Sycamores’ record to 3-2, while Eastern Illinois drops to 2-2 on the season.

The Sycamores were led offensively by David Moss and Jerod Adler, as each tallied 15 points. Moss finished 4-of-8 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Adler hit 4-of-10 shots from the field and was 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Eric Gray pitched in 14 points. Amani Daanish added 13 points and went to the free throw line 13 times, a new career high.

Guard Emanuel Dildy led the way for the Panthers with 17 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the floor. Josh Gomes added 14 for Eastern Illinois, while Bobby Catchings came of the bench to add nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

ISU’s pressure defense was the key to the game, as they caused 23 Eastern Illinois turnovers which turned into 23 points for the Sycamores. The Trees turned the ball over just six times, tying a season-low.

Saturday’s victory marks the 100th win in Coach Royce Waltman’s eighth season at ISU. He became just the fifth head coach in the program's 106 year history to reach the 100-win plateau. The victory was also the Sycamore’s second in a row and third consecutive home win. ISU will look to continue both streaks when they host Valparaiso on Thursday (Dec. 9).
