Sycamores close out exhibition play with 77-65 win

TERRE HAUTE, IN (11-13-2004)The Indiana State men’s basketball team rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit, taking its first lead four minutes into the second half, to defeat the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds 77-65 at Hulman Center Saturday (Nov. 13) night.

The Sycamores were led by junior guard David Moss with 19 points. Moss finished 6-of-12 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. He also hauled in a team-high seven defensive rebounds. Senior Amani Daanish scored 15 and pulled down nine rebounds, while Russell Trudeau and Logan Whitmanm didn't miss a shot and each added nine points off the bench.

Senior guard David Logan led the way for Indianapolis, scoring a game-high 20 points while grabbing five rebounds. Forward Lawrence Barnes and guard Mickey McGill each added 10 points. After shooting 47 percent from the field in the first half, the Sycamore defense held the Greyhounds to just 37 percent in the second stanza.

ISU connected on 25-of-49 (.510) from the field for the game, including 14-of-23 (.609) in the second period, while Indianapolis made 42 percent (25-of-60) of their shots. The Sycamores held a 39-35 advantage on the boards and scored 26 points in the paint.

"Indianapolis played very well tonight," said head coach Royce Waltman. "They are a small team and play that way. I was impressed with the way they spread the floor against us."

The Sycamores will begin their 2004-05 regular season ledger when they host Coastal Carolina on Friday, November 19. Tip off is set for 6:05 p.m., CST at Hulman Center.
