CEDAR LAKE (12-23-2015) In the championship game of 'Wildcat Winter Classic' girls basketball tournament, the Crown Point Lady Bulldogs effectively contained the host Lady Wildcats top scorer Brooke Sterkowitz, taking an 11-3 first quarter lead and eventual 53-49 win over Hanover Central. Hannah Albrecht finished with 18 point to lead either team in scoring and was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Megan Morgan and Mya Scheidt each added 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Sterkowitz led the Lady Wildcats with 15 points, while Alex Glidewell chipped in 10.

Hobart won the consolation 3rd place trophy with a 44-32 win over the Knox Lady Redskins. In the other day-two tournament games, Lowell defeated Griffith 52-31 for 5th place and Washington Township defeated Whiting 59-37 in the 7th place game.

In the first day of the tournament, Hanover advanced to the finals with a 62-31 first round win over Washington Township and a semifinal win (Dec. 22) over the Knox Lady Redskins 54-21.

Crown Point similarly advanced to the finals with a first round win 72-24 over Griffith and a semifinal win over Hobart 33-17, the latter a definitely slower-paced game than the earlier games.
