Live Internet Radio streams CP Football & Boys and Girls Basketball games
Crown
Point, IN (10-22-2005)
- Meyer
Multimedia Services, a division of Meyer Broadcasting
Corporation, announced a milestone of sorts in going over
the 100,000 visit mark for the web site www.USA-365.com.
This season continues the live local broadcast of Crown
Point high school football, basketball and baseball games on USA-365.com
through the 2005-2006 season.
John
Meyer, former owner of South Lake County's WWJY-103.9 FM,
has put together a new team of professionals with a combined
90+ years of experience in broadcasting, news reporting,
sports and computer sciences.
The
web site www.USA-365.com
has been posting high school sports stories the past three years covering primarily the high schools in South Lake
County, including Crown Point, Lowell, Hanover Central,
Boone Grove and Andrean.
"We've
begun by building up our web site and posting new sports
stories about four to six times a week," said Meyer.
"Mark Smith has extensive background in covering local
high school sports and our USA-365.com web site
provides an avenue for extended coverage for some of our
nearby schools."
In
2004, live Internet streaming of Crown Point football was
been added to the package, utilizing wireless Internet
technology from game sites to directly access the Internet
with the live play-by-play of the football action on the
gridiron. Operations
manager Dave Woodworth has provided the play-by-play and
advertising sales manager Jim Goodall and sports writer Mark
Smith have traded off on the color commentary.
USA-365.com
has to date broadcast five CPHS girls basketball and one
boys basketball game. Broadcasts begin with a 15-minute
pregame show at 7:15 p.m. and include a halftime report and
postgame analysis.
Coverage of Crown Point boys and
girls basketball have been scheduled around the
already committed-to 2004-05 Indiana State University
men’s basketball season. Added together, USA-365.com will
broadcast over 50 basketball games and 20 football
games in 2005-2006.
Meyer
Multimedia Services President John Meyer says he selected
the USA-365.com domain name for the new service
because he feels it represents the energy, vitality,
enthusiasm and patriotic spirit of the region, 365 days a
year. “We felt USA-365.com was the best vehicle for
bringing back local live radio programming."
Mark
Smith, sports writer for the Lake County Star, will bring
many years of radio sports experience to the USA-365.com team
as Internet sports announcer.
Smith is well known to region sports fans as a
call-in sports talk program host of “Speaking of Sports”
on the former WWJY in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He has also co-hosted “The Prep Football Report”
and “Roundball Review” for many years on WYIN, Channel
56. Known for
his insightful analysis and observations of the finer points
of the game, Smith brings the listener straight to the
action, describing the often fast-paced action of high
school football and basketball in Northwest Indiana.
Joining
Smith in the press box this season will be veteran
announcer/producer Dave Woodworth, who got his start in
broadcasting by doing the public address announcing for high
school sports in the Twin Cities.
Woodworth was introduced to radio in the late 1970s
serving as a summer student worker for the American Forces
Radio Service at Sigonella Naval Air Facility in Sicily.
He majored in Journalism at the University of Minnesota and
served as a television news reporter/producer at KSTP-TV,
St. Paul, MN in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Woodworth has 20-years experience in network radio
affiliate relations and supervision of technical operations
for unmanned satellite stations. He’s known to region radio fans for his 12-years part-time
experience at several Northwest Indiana and South Suburban
stations hosting music programs, newscasts, election
coverage, sports, weather and public service programs.
Woodworth will trade-off on play-by-play and color
commentary and statistical support on game nights.
Veteran
computer consultant Jim
Goodall provides the technical support needed to make
everything come together on the USA-365.com team.
