Crusaders shoot past Sycamores, 81-56

Broermann's 18 Points Lead Indiana State's Effort

VALPARAISO, IN (11-26-2002) - Valparaiso, behind the 25-point effort of center Raitis Grafs, defeated Indiana State, 81-56, Tuesday night at the Athletic-Recreation Center in Valparaiso, Ind.

The loss evens the Sycamores' record at 1-1.  Valparaiso improves their record to 1-1.

Grafs scored 20 of his points in the first half as the Crusaders opened a 14-1 lead over the games initial five minutes.  The Sycamores were held without a field goal until Jerod Adler slammed home a dunk with 13:37 to play in the half.

Matt Broermann canned five-of-nine three point efforts in the first half enroute to 15 first-half points.   He led the Sycamores with 18 for the game.  Catrel Green and Brian Giesen led the Sycamore rebounding contingent with seven rebounds apiece.

The Sycamores travel to New Orleans, LA, to compete in the University Hoops Classic.  They face SE Missouri State, Friday, November 29, at 6:00 p.m. EST.
