Marcus Howard scored 18 points Saturday for
Indiana State as the Sycamores snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-57
victory over Eastern Illinois.
The junior had a 3-pointer in a 12-5 Indiana State run that gave the Sycamores (3-4) their first lead of the second half at 36-34. His basket put ISU in front for keeps, 48-46.
The Panthers (3-4) used a 12-2 run to take a 25-16 lead in the first half and were up 29-24 at the break.
The Sycamores shot 29 percent in the first 20 minutes and were good on 37 percent for the game while EIU connected on 41 percent and outrebounded ISU 45-38.
Henry Domercant led Eastern Illinois with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The school's career scoring leader took a 26.7-point average into the contest and was second in NCAA scoring last season.
Craig Lewis added 12 points and 10 boards to the EIU totals. David Moss had 11 points and Lamar Grimes 10 for the Sycamores.
