The Indiana State University men’s basketball
team closed out the exhibition portion of its schedule with a 81-61 victory over
Knox Raiders Australia on Monday (Nov. 17). The Sycamores shot 53-percent
(34-of-64) from the floor and used a 43-21 rebounding advantage to claim the
win.
Sophomore guard David Moss (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood HS) led all scorers with 14 points, including 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Ted Morris (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade HS) scored 13 points and finished with a game-high nine rebounds. Marcus Howard (Elgin, Ill.) rounded out ISU’s balanced offensive attack with twelve points and a game-high eight assists.
The game was tied 17-17, with eight minutes remaining in the first half before ISU used a 16-7 run to surge ahead (33-24), before taking a 38-30 lead into halftime. The Sycamores used an 8-0 run to start the second half and open up a 16-point lead (46-30). From there the 'Trees' cruised to victory, as Knox would get no closer than 14 points (61-47) in the second half.
Chris Novak led Knox Raiders with 16 points, on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor. Glenn Siegle finished the contest with eleven points and four assists, while Keenan Browder posted ten points and a game-high four steals. The Sycamores forced Knox Raiders into 20 turnovers, and allowed just seven assists.
ISU begins its regular season on Sunday (Nov.
23), when the Sycamores host Gardner-Webb at Hulman Center. Tip-Off is set for 3:05
p.m., CST / 4:05 p.m., EST. The
