Sycamores Rout Aces in MVC Opener, 86-60

TERRE HAUTE, IN (1-4-2003)  Junior guard Wilfred Antoine tallied 17 points and seven assists Saturday in  Indiana State's 86-60 victory over Evansville. The Sycamores (5-7, 1-0 MVC) defeated the Aces (4-6, 0-1)  for the seventh straight time  in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Wilfred Antoine scored 11 of his  points in the first half that ended with Indiana State in front 46-27. The Sycamores shot 58 percent in the first 20 minutes and did not have a turnover until the final seconds of the period -- finishing with 10 for the game. ISU used a 7-0 run to take a 19-6 lead just under the 12-minute mark and led by at least seven points the rest of the half with 19 being the biggest advantage.

The Sycamores, who committed just 10 turnovers the entire game, used a 7-0 scoring run to take an early 19-6 lead.

Indiana State hit eight of its first 11 shots in the second half to take its biggest lead at 67-38, and led by at least 21 points the rest of the way.

Indiana State was good on 34-of-59 shots for 58 percent and made 11-of-20 3-pointers. The Aces shot 44 percent, making 24-of-54 shots, and hit  1 of their 13 3-point shots.

Three other players scored in double digits for ISU. Lamar Grimes notched 14. Catrel Green and David Moss each had 12. Larry Ferguson had 13 points and eight rebounds for Evansville and DeWayne Lee scored 11 points.
