The Records - Indiana State enters the contest at 3-5/1-2 GFC, following last Saturday's 21-52 loss at Western Illinois. The Sycamores, who are a perfect 3-0 at home this season, have nonconference losses against two Div. I-A programs (17-48 at W. Michigan, 21-23 at Ball State), as well as a 19-26 loss at #13 Eastern Illinois. The Sycamores' victories have come against Cumberland (14-10), Murray State (34-31 2ot) and SMS (23-20 ot). Western Kentucky brings records of 5-3/3-1 GFC into Saturday's contest after defeating SMS (31-7) this past weekend.
The Coaches - Indiana State head coach Tim McGuire (Nebraska '75) is in his fifth season at the helm of the Sycamores football program. McGuire's record as head coach at Indiana State stands at 15 victories and 37 defeats, while his six-year career mark stands at 22-52, including two seasons as the head coach at Morningside College (1981-82). This season is McGuire's 10th as a member of the Sycamores' coaching staff. Western Kentucky head coach Jack Harbaugh (Bowling Green '61) is 84-68 in his 14th season as the Hilltoppers head coach and 109-95-3 in 19 years overall as a head coach.
The Series - Indiana State trails the series, 5-8-0. The Sycamores' last win in the series came in 1995, winning at home, 27-6. Since that time, Western Kentucky has run off a six-game series win string. Indiana State stands 2-4-1 in games played in Bowling Green, KY.
