ST. LOUIS, MO - (7/31/2003) —
The Indiana State Sycamores, coming off a 5-7 (3-5 Gateway) finish in 2002, are
picked to finish eighth in the coaches and media preseason poll released today
at the beginning of the Gateway’s annual media day luncheon. Last year, the
Sycamores finished tied for fifth in the conference.
Western Illinois is picked to finish first while defending national champion
Western Kentucky is picked to finish second. Youngstown State is third while
Northern Iowa is fourth. Fifth through eighth is Illinois State, Southern
Illinois, SMS and Indiana State.
The Sycamores open up preseason drills on August 11 and the first game will be
August 28 at Ball State. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. (CDT/EST).
