Crown
Point Internet radio USA-365 begins 4th year of audio streamingby Dave Woodworth
CROWN, IN (8-10-2005) - Meyer Multimedia Services, a division of Meyer Broadcasting Corporation, today unveiled its Fall 2005 Internet audio broadcasting schedule for web site www.USA-365.com of 20 regular season high school and college football games.
USA-365.com
begins its second year of Internet audio streaming of Crown Point High School
football games and fourth year of streaming of Indiana State University football
games. USA-365’s will broadcast nine Friday night regular season high school
games beginning with Crown Point at Lowell August 19 at 6:45 p.m.,
CDT. The first college game will be Eastern Illinois at Indiana State September
1 at 6:40 p.m., CDT.
John
Meyer, founder and 25-year owner of South Lake County's WWJY-103.9 FM, says he
feels the Internet has the potential of bringing the Crown Point community
together in support of the local high school.
“Since
the current owners of my old radio station have moved it to Valparaiso, I wanted
to do what I could to bring back the spirit of hometown unity,” said Meyer. Providing play-by-play coverage of Crown Point High School
football, basketball and baseball is a good start in reminding our community of
the need to support our student athletes and scholars.
Veteran
broadcasters Mark Smith and Dave Woodworth will anchor the CPHS live
play-by-play coverage, with assistance from technology specialist Jim Goodall.
In addition, Brian Fritz returns to call the gridiron action on the ISU
Sycamores Radio Network, of which USA-365.com is the official Internet
streaming service.
The
web site www.USA-365.com has been
posting high school sports stories the past three years covering primarily the
high schools in South Lake County, including Crown Point, Lowell, Hanover
Central, Boone Grove and Andrean.
"We've
begun by building up our web site and posting new sports stories about four to
six times a week," said Meyer. "Mark Smith has extensive
background in covering local high school sports and our USA-365.com web
site provides an avenue for extended coverage for some of our nearby
schools."
In
addition to live Internet audio streaming, USA-365.com has posted
podcasts (mp3 audio file downloads) of Crown Point sports the past two years,
long before the podcasting reached its current peak in popularity.
USA-365.com
has already demonstrated Internet audio versatility, having recently completed
an ambitious spring and summer baseball schedule covering Crown Point High
School and American Legion Post 20 games. Baseball
podcasts of those games are available
for free download.
By
utilizing wireless Internet technology from game sites to directly access the
Internet, USA-365’s operations manager Dave Woodworth provides the
play-by-play while Jim Goodall and Mark Smith trade off on the color commentary.
In addition to the fall football season, USA-365.com plans to cover CPHS girls and boys basketball through the upcoming winter sports season and baseball again next spring. CPHS football game broadcasts begin with a 15-minute pregame show at 6:45 p.m. and include a halftime report and postgame analysis.
