CROWN POINT (05-24-2016) Certainly not pretty, but the Crown Point Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a clutch win on their home diamond.

The Bulldogs defeated the Hanover Central Wildcats 5-4 behind senior Nick Ricci’s game-winning double to the gap in right-center, scoring junior Brandon Haczynski from second in the bottom of the seventh-inning.

Both teams traded zeros through the first four innings, until Hanover Central got a run on a pickoff move by senior Mike Waither that resulted in a run in the top of the fifth. But in the bottom half, the Bulldogs managed to get two runs on RBI hits by seniors Joey O’Keefe and Mark Mazure.

The Bulldogs would get two more runs in the sixth before the Wildcats tailed three runs on two hits and three errors in the top of the seventh before Ricci drove in Haczynski in the bottom half.

Hanover Central left 11 on base while Crown Point stranded six.
