CROWN POINT (5-17-2016) It became a victory for the seniors and to mark perfection in the DAC. The Crown Point Bulldogs' 11-0 win over the Merrillville Pirates in four and a half innings gave the DAC champions a perfect 14-0 record in the conference.
The win also came on senior day, as five soon to be graduating players received tributes.
The third inning set the tone for the Bulldogs as they scored six runs on eight hits. In all, they sent 11 to the plate.
Morgan Matalin drove in five runs, as the senior centerfielder had three doubles, including clearing the bases loaded in the third on a shot to left. Fellow senior starting pitcher Miranda Elish, who did not surrender a hit in five innings pitched went 4 for 4, all singles, two runs scored and an RBI.
Following the game, the Bulldogs honored their departing seniors with postgame ceremonies that included touching tributes from fellow players and parent recognition.
