CROWN POINT (5-12-2016) Perhaps worth the wait. In a game postponed by rain from Tuesday, May 10, the Crown Point Bulldogs extended their winning streak to four with a 3-0 victory over the LaPorte Slicers.
The win marked back-to-back shutouts, both against DAC schools, having defeated the Valparaiso Vikings 5-0 on the road the day before.
After junior shortstop MacKenzie Dunlap led off the second with a single to center, she would advance to third on an error, eventually coming around to score on a wild pitch by LaPorte junior starter Reily Galloway with junior catcher Lexi Madrigal batting.
Two more runs would come across in the fifth with senior Morgan Matalin reaching base on an error, scoring sophomore left fielder Lydia Byrd from second. Matalin would then score on junior second baseman’s Alexis Holloway’s single to center.
This win marked the second time this year the Bulldogs defeated the Slicers by an identical 3-0 score. On April 13, they went on the road and handed LaPorte a 3-0 loss.
